Our Parish Mission Statement
Church of the Ascension is a Catholic community in Johnstown, Ohio that keeps Christ at the center of our hearts, families, homes and parish, so we can live the truth and share it with others (John 14:6; 1 Peter 3:15). With the help of sacred scripture, tradition, and the sacraments, we strive to know, love and serve God in this world, while encouraging others to do the same, so we may live eternally in heaven with Christ, the angels, and the saints (Ephesians 2:4-8).

Modern culture’s obsession with all things paranormal provides the Catholic Church with a unique opportunity for evangelization. The Catholic Church is the only true authority on this subject, and it is time to share the power and glory of Jesus Christ’s victory over the gates of hell. On Tuesday, September 29, Catholic spiritual warfare expert Dave VanVickle will give a fascinating talk about what the Church really teaches about angels, demons, ghosts, exorcisms, and hauntings. Dave has extensive experience assisting priests in their ministries of exorcism and deliverance. In this presentation, he clears up the many misunderstandings surrounding these topics and delivers the truth of the Church’s teaching. The talk will begin at 7:00 PM; after the talk there will be an opportunity to ask questions and a special time for veneration of relics. Tuesday evening Mass has been moved to 8:00 AM. Confession & Adoration will be from 5:00-6:00 PM. Light refreshments from 6:00-7:00 PM in Ascension Hall as the speaker prepares for the talk that will begin at 7:00 PM. Please invite someone to join you. You will not want to miss this!
