Our Parish Mission Statement
Church of the Ascension is a Catholic community in Johnstown, Ohio that keeps Christ at the center of our hearts, families, homes and parish, so we can live the truth and share it with others (John 14:6; 1 Peter 3:15). With the help of sacred scripture, tradition, and the sacraments, we strive to know, love and serve God in this world, while encouraging others to do the same, so we may live eternally in heaven with Christ, the angels, and the saints (Ephesians 2:4-8).
Church of the Ascension is a growing community of devoted Catholics located in Johnstown, Ohio. We welcome visitors to our community, but if you are ready to register with us, please let us know! We're excited for you and your family to join us!

9/29/26 Dave VanVickle: The Greatest Story Ever Told
Dave VanVickle brings us the Greatest Story Ever Told: God’s Relentless Pursuit of Your Soul. Tuesday evening Mass has been moved to 8:00 AM. Confession & Adoration will be from 5:00-6:00 PM. Light refreshments from 6:00-7:00 PM in Ascension Hall as the speaker prepares for the talk that will begin at 7:00 PM. Please invite someone to join you. You will not want to miss this!

September 25th – Knights will host the High School Football Car Parking event (A)
October 6th - Join the Knights for the Rosary 6:00 pm (A)
October 9th – Knights will host the High School Football Car Parking event (A)
October 14th - Knights will hold a new member Exemplification Ceremony from 6:30 to 7:00 in the church (A) Knights will hold their monthly Admin meeting from 7:00 to 8:00 pm (K)
October 16th - Knights will host the High School Football Car Parking event (A)
October 18th - 11:00 AM Mass intention for Deceased Knights (A)
October 19th to 23rd - The Knights will hold their annual food drive competition at both Johnstown & Northridge High Schools; Oct 15th Knights will prep the boxes; Oct - 16th school box drop-off; 23rd & 26th pickup boxes from schools; TBD - Pizza party for winning classes.
October 28th – Knights will hold their monthly Program meeting from 7:00 to 8:00 pm (K)
October 29th – Knights will participate in the Johnstown Trick or Treat at the town square (A)

Evening of Encouragement for Mothers

Come for all or part of the evening.
All mothers are invited for Adoration and Confession 5-6 pm, followed by the rosary.

Lectio: Prayer
Our new study, Lectio Prayer, starts soon with a Monday morning OR Tuesday evening option! First session is Monday, October 12th at 8:45am OR Tuesday evening, October 13th at 7pm. Study guides will be provided.
With the clear teaching of the Augustine Institute's Lectio series, Dr. Tim Gray masterfully uses the discipline of Lectio Divina to show you how to make prayer an effective effort of love and intimacy.
In six video sessions Lectio Prayer: Finding Intimacy With God includes:
-The Lectio Divina approach of Reading, Reflecting, Responding, and Contemplating
-Penetrating questions and insights for the six video sessions
-Additional resources for a fuller understanding and application

It's Time to Shuffle and Deal Some Euchre Fun!
Join the fun at the church on the first, third, and fifth Sunday evenings of each month from
6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Euchre will resume for the new season on October 4.
All skill levels are welcome, so bring your game face and let’s make some memories.

Women of Ascension Annual Morning of Reflection
First Friday Adoration 10/2/26
On Friday, October 2nd, join our Adorers who spend time before our Lord in His Eucharistic Presence in the Monstrance.
Adoration will begin after 8 AM Mass and will continue until 6 PM.
The NEW Family Holy Hour will be from 5 PM to 6 PM. (Questions about Family Holy Hour should be directed to Kendra Arbogast at kendra.replogle@gmail.com)

In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the blessing encourages gratitude for pets and a commitment to care for them, reflecting Saint Francis's message of compassion for all living creatures.
