Our Parish Mission Statement
Church of the Ascension is a Catholic community in Johnstown, Ohio that keeps Christ at the center of our hearts, families, homes and parish, so we can live the truth and share it with others (John 14:6; 1 Peter 3:15). With the help of sacred scripture, tradition, and the sacraments, we strive to know, love and serve God in this world, while encouraging others to do the same, so we may live eternally in heaven with Christ, the angels, and the saints (Ephesians 2:4-8).
Church of the Ascension is a growing community of devoted Catholics located in Johnstown, Ohio. We welcome visitors to our community, but if you are ready to register with us, please let us know! We're excited for you and your family to join us!

All Souls’ Day Cemetery Mass
Monday, November 2nd - 8 am at Church
Additional 2 pm Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery (11484 Jug Street Rd, Johnstown)
This Mass will happen, rain or shine. We will have a few metal chairs; however, we recommend that you bring a chair with you.
Knights of Columbus
Knights of Columbus Upcoming Activities
October 27th - The Knights will host a special Holy Hour for Life. Join us in prayer in the church from 5-6 pm for the defense of the unborn, healing from infertility, care for mothers and families, and an end to the evil of abortion (A)
October 28th – Knights will hold their monthly Program meeting from 7:00 to 8:00 pm (K)
October 29th – Knights will participate in the Johnstown Trick or Treat at the town square (A)
November 3rd– Join the Knights for the Rosary @ 6:00 pm (A)
November 11th – SAVE THE DATE! - The Knights of Columbus will host their annual recruiting night for men age 18 and older who are interested in becoming members. Spouses are also welcome. The meeting will be held from 7:00–8:00 PM and will feature an overview of membership, along with a presentation on life insurance and financial planning benefits available to members and their families. If you are considering joining the Knights of Columbus, this is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the organization, its mission, and its benefits.
November 12th - Mass intention to honor Deceased Knights @ 8:00 AM Mass (A)
November 25th - Knights will meet at 7:00 pm to hold their monthly meeting and perform a special function for the holidays. (K)
December 7th - Please join the Knights in the parking lot immediately after evening Mass for Light Up for Christ as we light up the manger and stable scene. All are welcome to come and participate in this joyous occasion! (A)
December 12th - SAVE THE DATE! The Knights and their spouses will gather for their annual Christmas party at Clover Valley Golf Club. Knights, please watch for additional details. (K)

Lectio: Prayer
Our new study, Lectio Prayer, has begun with a Monday morning (8:45 am) OR Tuesday (7:00 pm) evening option! Study guides are provided.
With the clear teaching of the Augustine Institute's Lectio series, Dr. Tim Gray masterfully uses the discipline of Lectio Divina to show you how to make prayer an effective effort of love and intimacy.
In six video sessions Lectio Prayer: Finding Intimacy With God includes:
-The Lectio Divina approach of Reading, Reflecting, Responding, and Contemplating
-Penetrating questions and insights for the six video sessions
-Additional resources for a fuller understanding and application

First Friday Adoration 11/6/26
On Friday, November 6th, join our Adorers who spend time before our Lord in His Eucharistic Presence in the Monstrance.
Adoration will begin after 8 AM Mass and will continue until 6 PM.
The NEW Family Holy Hour will be from 5 PM to 6 PM. (Questions about Family Holy Hour should be directed to Kendra Arbogast at kendra.replogle@gmail.com)

Evening of Encouragement for Mothers
Join us for an evening of renewal on November 10, 2026!
Come for all or part of the evening.
All mothers are invited for Adoration and Confession 5-6 pm, followed by the rosary.
